Upholstery, Sofa & Mattress Cleaning across Teesside

Sofas, leather, dining chairs and mattresses — brought back to life with the same hot water extraction we use on carpets, dialled down for fabric.

Bring Your Sofa Back to Life

A good sofa is an investment — often the most expensive single item in a living room. A clean one lasts years longer. A dirty one shows its age fast: darker arm-rests from skin oils, headrest patches from hair products, that ring of grime along the front cushion where legs rub. You might not notice it day-to-day, but put a clean cushion next to a used one and the difference hits you immediately.

Fresh Tech provides professional upholstery cleaning across Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Ingleby Barwick, Yarm, Darlington and the wider Teesside area. Sofas, leather suites, dining chairs, mattresses, armchairs, headboards — anything fabric and most things leather. Fast-drying, pet-safe, no sticky residues.

Our Upholstery Work

Why Choose Fresh Tech for Upholstery?

Fabric-Specific Technique

A velvet sofa needs completely different handling from a cotton one; micro-fibre is different again; leather is a different job altogether. We assess the fabric type before touching it and match pressure, chemistry and drying method to what won't damage it.

Fast Drying — Same-Day Use

Sofas and mattresses matter to a household more than carpets — you need somewhere to sleep and somewhere to sit tonight. Our controlled extraction methods mean most upholstery is dry enough to use within 2-4 hours. You're not camped in the spare room for two nights.

Safe for Pets, Children and Allergy Sufferers

Non-toxic, environmentally friendly solutions — no residues for pets to lick, children to crawl on or allergy sufferers to react to. Particularly relevant for mattresses: you're breathing from six inches away for eight hours a night, and harsh chemistry is the last thing you want in that airspace.

Specialist Leather Treatment

Leather needs cleaning and conditioning, not hot water extraction. We use leather-specific cleaners that lift body oils and grime, then condition the hide to prevent the cracking that dry leather is prone to. Gets you years more from a good leather suite.

Our Upholstery Cleaning Process

1. Fabric Identification and Inspection

First thing we check is the manufacturer's tag — tells us whether the fabric is W (water safe), S (solvent only), WS (both) or X (vacuum only). That dictates everything about the clean. We also check for weak seams, existing damage and colour-fastness before starting.

2. Vacuum and Pre-Treat

Dry vacuum first to lift loose dirt and dust — upholstery holds more of both than most people realise, especially mattresses. Then a pre-treatment solution matched to the fabric type to loosen embedded grime.

3. Stain and Odour Spotting

Targeted treatment for known problems — arm-rest oil marks, headrest build-up, food spills, pet accidents. Different stains need different chemistry; we don't use a one-bottle approach.

4. Hot Water Extraction (or Solvent for Leather)

For fabric: controlled hot water extraction at lower pressure than we use on carpets — fabric is more delicate and we're not trying to soak the padding. For leather: a specialist cleaner worked into the hide, then a conditioner to restore suppleness.

5. Neutralise and Speed-Dry

pH-balanced rinse, then air movement to accelerate drying. Open the windows, crack the vents, and you're sitting on the sofa again by evening.

6. Final Inspection

We walk through the results with you before leaving. Tell you what came out, what didn't, and how to keep it clean longer.

Upholstery Cleaning FAQs

How much does it cost to clean a sofa?

Three-seater fabric sofa from £60. Two-seater from £45. Leather from £70 (more involved — includes conditioning). Full three-piece suites we price on inspection. Mattresses from £35 (single to king).

How long does upholstery take to dry?

Fabric sofa: 2-4 hours to touch-dry, 6-8 to fully dry — you can sit on it that evening. Leather: ready immediately after conditioning. Mattresses: 4-6 hours (we recommend cleaning in the morning so you can sleep on it that night).

Can you clean leather sofas?

Yes. Leather is a different process from fabric — we use a leather-specific cleaner to lift skin oils and grime, then a conditioner to put moisture back into the hide. Prevents cracking and restores suppleness.

Can you clean mattresses?

Yes, and more people should have it done. Mattresses accumulate dust mites, dead skin cells, sweat and body oils. Professional cleaning extracts all of that — you'd be surprised at what comes out of an apparently clean mattress, especially under a baby's or child's bedroom.

Will you remove pet odour from my sofa?

Usually, yes. Fabric sofas respond well to our enzyme treatments. Where the padding is heavily contaminated (old accidents, repeated incidents) some odour may return as the padding dries — in those cases we'll flag before starting rather than charge for a clean that doesn't fully fix it.

Is it safe for allergy sufferers?

Yes — hot water extraction removes dust mites and allergens rather than stirring them up. Our solutions are non-toxic and residue-free. Particularly valuable for mattress cleaning if anyone in the house has asthma or allergies.

Do I need to move the furniture outside?

No. We clean in place. You'll need the area clear around it so we can reach, but the sofa or mattress stays where it is.

Will the colours run or fade?

We colour-test every fabric on a hidden patch before starting. If there's any risk of dye-run we'll tell you before going further. This is standard practice — never skipped.
